Raw, unedited and pulled from the draft…a sneak peak into the lives of those at Red Rum Academy…
“You can keep telling yourself that, but I’m not buying it.” I pushed up from the ground and stood, the mood no longer so endearing as before. My intention to unwind and relax in hope to dissolve blockages had the reverse effect. Frustration built and the ambience that lured me to the lake vanished.
“I don’t see what difference it makes?” Looking up at me, he shielded his eyes with his hand as if warding off the glare from the sun that didn’t reach so low as where we were.
“That’s because you have no idea what it’s like to be trapped in the dark.” Like stew bubbling over a flame, the anger began to build. My vision, tinted red, blurred before it started to spin. Faster and faster and faster until I was convinced I’d fall. As if I’d been pierced with thousands of pins from inside out, my skin burned, even deep within my eardrums, causing the silence to scream loud as I imagined a banshee.
“Tarot. Tarot.” Colton’s voice faint as if he were miles away and not directly in front of me. His movements performed in slow motion, stilted and deliberate, not at all so agile as I knew him to be.
“Tarot, focus on my voice. Take deep breaths.”
Even if in a roundabout way, telling me to calm down always had the opposite effect. Lava spewing from a volcano came to mind as fluorescent orange raged from my body, knocking Colton backwards through the air with such force he landed ass first two meters into the lake.
The sound of water splashing around him penetrated the barrier that nearly deafened me, snapping me out of my temper tantrum.
I hope you enjoyed!
Love and light.
